Brisbane City Council Approves $2.1B Waterfront Masterplan for Northshore Hamilton

By Queensland Bureau·

Brisbane City Council has granted approval for a $2.1 billion masterplan that will transform the former industrial port lands at Northshore Hamilton into a vibrant mixed-use urban village.

The approved masterplan encompasses 304 hectares of land along the Brisbane River and will deliver approximately 8,500 new dwellings, 50,000 square metres of retail and commercial floor space, and 17 hectares of public parkland.

The development will be staged over 25 years, with the first residential precinct expected to commence construction in mid-2027 following completion of infrastructure works including a new sewage treatment facility and upgraded flood mitigation measures.

Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Walsh said the Northshore Hamilton development would become Brisbane's most significant urban renewal project since the 2011 flood recovery.

Economic Development Queensland will act as the development manager for the project, coordinating with private developers who will bid for individual parcels through a competitive tender process.
