Parramatta CBD Height Limits Lifted to 300m in Draft Planning Proposal
The City of Parramatta has placed a draft planning proposal on public exhibition that would remove the existing 235-metre height ceiling in the Parramatta CBD core, opening the door to taller towers in Western Sydney's commercial heart.
The proposal responds to strong interest from commercial property developers who argue existing controls are preventing Parramatta from competing with Sydney CBD and North Sydney for major corporate tenants.
Parramatta Lord Mayor Councillor Patricia Grant said the decision to proceed with the draft proposal followed a comprehensive economic analysis that found relaxing height limits could unlock over $6 billion in private investment.
The exhibition period runs until 30 June 2026, after which a planning panel will assess all submissions before forwarding a recommendation to the NSW Department of Planning.
